The New Vehicle Payment is a one-off £750 payment to help you get a brand-new car on the Motability Scheme.
This was due to end on 31 December 2024 for new customers, but it has been extended for a few days until 3 January 2025.
This is to give you a final chance to order your first car if you can’t visit us over the festive period.
Already have a vehicle on the Scheme? This end date does not affect you. If you’ve not already had the New Vehicle Payment, you’ll get it with your next car, even if that’s after 3 January 2025.
How it works
Anyone who orders their first car by 3 January 2025 will qualify for the £750 New Vehicle Payment.
If you order your first vehicle from 4 January 2025, you will not be eligible for this payment.
You do not have to collect your vehicle by 3 January 2025, but you must have completed your vehicle order by this date.
You’ll only get this payment once, not every time you get a new vehicle.
When is it paid?
There are two ways to get the £750 New Vehicle Payment:
This can be used towards an Advanced Payment
If the car you choose has an Advance Payment, your £750 can be put towards this cost.
If your Advance Payment is more than £750, you’ll need to pay the difference at your OMC dealership.
If it’s less than £750, you’ll receive the difference after you collect your vehicle, to spend how you choose.
Your Motability Specialist will ask how you’d like to use your New Vehicle Payment when you’re ordering.
You can only use the New Vehicle Payment towards the cost of your vehicle’s Advance Payment. You cannot use it towards the cost of adaptations or optional extras.
This can be sent directly to you
If you do not ask for your New Vehicle Payment to go to your OMC dealership, or you order a car without an Advance Payment, this will be sent to you in full within a few weeks of getting your new vehicle.
This will be sent by bank transfer if you’ve saved your bank details in your Motability Scheme online account. If not, you’ll receive a cheque.
